A native Texan, Leigh Ellen Key is committed to positioning Texas as a leader in creating a more environmentally responsible and economically just and healthy world. She has had a varied career in both the for-profit and non-profit sector, most recently, as a consultant to non-profits.
She uses her management, strategic planning, fundraising, and finance experience to guide organizations in clearly defining their purpose and direction so that they can fulfill their boldest vision.
During the 90’s, Leigh Ellen spent six years in the energy business in a variety of roles, from strategic planning and capital project evaluation to energy trading and marketing management. In 1999, she left that behind to volunteer in Guatemala, where she worked with Mayan textile artisans to expand their economic opportunities.
Upon returning to the US, she joined the staff at the largest residential yoga and holistic health and education center in the United States, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, located in western Massachusetts. During her eight-year career at Kripalu, she was instrumental in launching and fundraising for several initiatives, including a yoga research initiative in partnership with Harvard Medical School and a university-accredited semester intensive program in holistic health and personal development. Ultimately, she joined the Executive Team as Co-director of the Institute for Integrated Healing, where she was responsible for the strategic direction of multiple residential healthy living programs for adults as well as the development and daily management of one-on-one clinical and healing services and consultations. Leigh Ellen holds a Masters of Science in Engineering-Economic Systems (Management Science) from Stanford University, a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a certified Kripalu Yoga teacher.
