Brandy O’Quinn - Urban and Public Affairs

Brandy O’Quinn founded Urban Strategies of Texas, LLC in 2007 while still working at Camp Bowie District, Inc. (CBD), a commercial public improvement district. After leaving in 2009, she focused all her energies on the firm. She has helped numerous developers navigate their way through the city and oversaw their community affairs and public outreach. She successfully directed the creation of a public improvement district in Downtown Arlington and continues to assist Camp Bowie District with many of their economic development activities.

During her nine-year tenure as President of CBD, Ms. O’Quinn initiated and oversaw infrastructure improvements, coordinated marketing, maintenance and repair of brick and asphalt street and beautification. CBD is a not-for-profit organization formed by commercial property owners to revitalize Camp Bowie Blvd. She served on the City’s Zoning Commission for close to 4 years. She founded, produced, and secured funding for the Jazz By The Boulevard Music and Arts Festival for 7 years. The funding was secured with multi-year sponsorship contracts with major national brands such as: Cadillac, Coors, American Airlines, Clear Channel, Star-Telegram, AT&T, WFAA, and many more.

Prior to CBD, Ms. O’Quinn was the Director of Local Business Development with the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce for five years. Ms. O’Quinn was charged with directing the local business retention activities to retain Fort Worth’s existing business base, promote business expansion, and assist businesses with local business issues.  She established quality relationships with staff and elected officials at the city and county levels.  She assisted in economic development activities in all areas of Fort Worth through partnerships with other organizations as well as implementing many successful programs for local businesses.

Ms. O’Quinn is a Certified Economic Developer and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a political science degree.  She worked with elected officials and lobbied the Texas Legislature on business issues before moving to Fort Worth in 1991. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Sustainability to be completed Fall 2012.
